DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET BUTTER STOCKS LOWER A sharp decrease in stocks of New Zealand butter held in London occurred last week, during which stocks became lower by 580 tons, only 2338 tons remaining at the end of the week. I his is the smallest quantity of New Zealand butter held in Ijondon for some time, and could bo absorbed by a heavy weeks demand. Last week, 1.832 tons were delivered from store. Australian deliveries last week totalled! 2262 tons, leaving 3651 tons in store. In a cablo message dated' January 17, the Dairy Hoard’s London manager re ported the market for butter irregulai at the following quotations: New Zealand, salted 91s to 92s with exceptional quality at 935, unsalted 102 s to 104 s; Australian, salted 90s to 925, unsalted 98s to 100 s; South African, 86s to 91s; Argentine, unsaltcd 96s to 98s; Danish, S4s f.0.b., 115 sto 116 s spot. Polish, salted 88s to 90s, unsalted 92s to 935; Dutch, unsalted 94s to 105 s. Retail prices were, unchanged at New Zealand Is and Danish Is 3d. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Company report to-day as follows: “Cheese, white 525. colored 565. The butter and cheese markets are very quiet.” The cheese prices quoted in this message are Is per cwt. below those received 1 on Saturday.
PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE Estates of a value of £526,998 were reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during the month of December, 1935. The total value ot the estates under administration by the Public Trustee on March 31, 1935, was £60,706,016, and the new business for the nine months ended December 31, 1935, was £4,717,007. Grants of administration made by the court in favor of the Public Trustee numbered 131 for the month. During the month 312 new wills appointing" the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody by living testators and 271 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators. The total number of wills now held in the Public Trust Office is 85,264.
