Backward Lambs
[ AMB 8 are not coming .forward to the works in Canterbury, as freely as appeared would be the case a month ago. Much feed has shot away to stalk, and in many districts there is an absence of bottom growth. Bust has developed rather badly where there has been a heavy pasture growth, and ewes and lainbs are not doing much good on the feed. Already lambs are to bo seen on rape in various parts of North Canterbury, and the dry weather has given the rape crop a set-back. Boot crops generally are in need of a good downpour of rain, otherwise there will he a disappointing amount of fattening from them.
