FINAL PERFORMANCE FOUR PLAYS PRESENTED Four one-act plays were presented last uiirlK l,v members of the Gisborne IfreperLory Society at the Parish Hall Willi a .urge and appreciative audience. I his was the dual performance of the season. dome new talent was found amongst the members, and the stage settings wore effective.

The Ural play, u comedy, "Crowning Glory," produced by Miss F. -Millar. Aiis' highly diverting. The scene was mid in a beauty parlor, and the players efforts were praiseworthy. The story concerned a contest for a Gloria Delnnn dim type, and, as the winner had received, attention at the beauty parlor, the stall took much credit to liiemselves for her success. The cast was Mrs. \V A. Bowie, and Misses JDorothj Adams, hois Miles, Mona Blair, Wendy Evans, Winnie Barns-Graham, ami Shona Williams. Tho drama, "Fear," written by Mrs. V. Targuesc, Auckland, was the next, uu the programme. Mrs. Targuesc, with another of her compositions tied for first place in the. New Zealand branch of the Drama League's contest, in which there were 70 entries. It was cleverly produced by Miss .1. Irvine and her brotlier, Mr. Barry Irvine. The part of Simon Murdoch was taken by Mr. Irvine, while Miss Irvine look the role of his wife. Finola. and both gave clever characterisations. Mr. Seddon Hill, as Fisher. foreman of a freezing works, was good in a. part which worked up to an unexpected climax. Miss Bain, the pet-it* maid Emma, completed an excellent east.

A tense atmosphere marked the drama "In Port," by Harry Simpson, which was produced by Messrs. M. W. Mills.. \V. Kohn and M. Dobson. As the judge Mr. Kohn had to handle a criminal very tactfully. The criminal, Mr. Dobson. had escaped and visited his home to wreak vengeance on account of having been sentenced to death. The working of the. plot was excellently done, and Mr. Mills, as Fletcher, the manservant. was splendidly fitted for the role. The final play wan J. M. Barrie's

"The Old Lady Shows lier Medals." niiil,once more 'Miss Millar was the prodncer. Miss Cora Oman as Mrs. Dowey ami Mr. John Crawford as Kenneth Howey cleverly took the leads, and the supporting east also acted well. Mrs. W. A. Bowie and Misses Howie and A. I'yan were all ill roles of most entertaining charladies. Mr. George Chrisp adequately filled the position of a young clergyman. Miss Oman won fresh laurels in her pari, and Mr. Crawford a-, a member of" the Black Watch was a handsome figure.
