GREATER POPULARITY LARGE FACTORY PLANNED LONDON, Oct. 12. With the greater co-operation which is ensured bv the Milk Marketing Board, Knglish butter is likely to .become mora,and more a. serious rival to New Zealand and -Danish produce. A writer in the Grocers' Gazette says that the board has decided to take immediate action <m a large scale with its plans- for manufacturing Comish butler. Several sites have been, inspected, and two or three, are considered excellent. The proposition is to build a new factory cajtable of handling al the outset af'hwsf 10.CC0 gallons of milk daily, and the creamery will be capable nl considerable expansion. K is reported- (hat the board has decided lo adopt the Danish .system of collecting the milk and of returning the ddnuued milk to the fanner. With a view lo reducing Iho mill-: transport costs bv about 50 per cent, however, the Milk Board: intends lo establish a number ol .separating slalitwis midway between the" Farm's and the factory in Cornwall. It is understood! that about four such stations will be opened Oil different sides of Ihc factory, and Ihe stations will forward Hie cream, and return (he skimmed milk lo Ihc farms. A year or two ago. il was almost impossible for a town dweller lo obtain real Knglish butter. There were numerous blends of foreign and colonial butter in wrappers which led the ignorant lo believe thev were Inlying fresh. Knglish butter, "bill Ihc real thing was hard to obtain. Now one business firm is manufacturing a very good K.ngiish butlcr. which is being sold at Is f)d per lb. compared "with Is 3d ami Is 'ld for New Zealand. It keeps well for at least a week, and litis a. very gorxl flavor. Apparently, the produce is fairly popular and the demand for it is grow-
