OBITUARY

MR. BOYD,

The deatffvof: Mr., Nigel Boyd in. Gisborne yesterday caused widespread regret in tlio Nnhaka;-district. Tiio deceased, who was 27 years of age and was tho eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Boyd', was bom in Gisborne, but spent-practically all his life in the Nuhataf district, where be was well known ak a capable young businessman and' the-' proprietor of a bus service. He-was also a member of the Hawke's Bay Aero Club. He had been in a. private., hospital in Gisborrie for some weeks, but the end came- suddenly. Deceased leaves a wife and two small children to mourn their loss, and to them, the parents and relatives the sympathy of residents of the Nuhaka district is extended, the- interment will take place at the Wairoa cemetery, for which the funeral will leave at 1.20 p.m. to-mor-row.

Mrs Mary. Anna Katerina Pulham, who died at Kohimarama on Friday, in her eightieth year, was born at Frankfurt,' Germany, Mrs. Pulham came to New Zealand with her parents, the late Captain and Mrs. Krippner, in the ship Lord Burleigh, in 1860. After her marriage to Mr. William Pulham, she resided for many years on the cast co:isl of the Coroinaudel Peninsula, where her husband was a prominent figure in the limber industry.

Mrs, Sarah Ann Lennard, of Waihou, for many years an esteemed resident of the Te Aroha district, died lost' week, aged 83. She was tho widow of Mir. John P. f.ennard who died 13 years ago. Mr. Lennard entered into the sport of racing and horses owned by him won many of tho leading events in the. Auckland* Racing Clubs programmes. In 1890 Mrs. Leonard look over the thoroughbreds, and some years later, after moving to Waihou. she won the Auckland ..Caps of 1910 and 1911 with Waimangn and Santa Rosa, respectively, the first; named being' ran in her own name, and the latter in oonjunctio with Mr. George. Robinson. Both horses were bred at Waihou and weretrained at Fllerslie by Mr. G. Absolum, a son-in-law. .In later years, horses raced successfully under Mrs. Lennard's colors included Tangiwai, Master O'Rorke and Autumn Day. More recently, horses from the same property have been raced by her sons.
