PIGEON FLYING
GISBORNE CLUB RACE FROM TAURANOA
A further race of the Gisborne Flying Club's old bird season was competed for on Saturday from Tauranga, an airline distance of 122 miles. The event was a pen race, there being intervals of live minutes between the liberating of each bird. The race, had the desired effect, for each bird came home on its own.
According to advice "deceived from the Tauranga stationmastor, the birds wero liberated in fitle windless weather. The winning bird was liberated at 9.20 a.m. and was home shortly after 12.50 p.m., the actual flying time being 3hr. 12min. 12sc.c.
The results in detail of the first eight placed birds were as follow: F. Green's v.e.e. Pal, 1119.3yds per min., 1 ; A. O'Neill's h.c.h. Cyclone. 1099.3yds per min., 2; F. Green's b.c.c. Blue Chance, 1080.6yds per min., 3: J. Dearness' b.c.c. White Heart, 1065.4yds per min.. A ; ,T. Barbour's b.c.c. Hangaround, 1023.3yds per min.. 5; .1. McLean's b.b.p.c. Blue Hero, 1015.5yds per min., 6: F. B. WUdish's r.c.r. Copper King. 996yds per min., 7; A. Bound's blk. c.p.'c. Black Adder. 983vds per min,. 8.
