SMASH ON CROSSING
BAKER’S VAN WRECKED
TWO M lON ESCAPE DEATH (Fur Press Association.) LEVIN, last night. A miraculous escape- from death •was experienced by two Levin men, Messrs. Robert Anderson and J. Corrigan, when a baker’s van in which they were riding was struck by the south-bound Napier express at the Roslyn road level crossing, one mile north of Levin, this afternoon. The van, a now one, was jnoceeding to negotiate the crossing on to the main, highway, when it was struck on the right-hand side by the train.
Nearby residents heard the crash and rushed to the scene, and medical aid was summoned.
As far as is known, Mr. Corrigan received a broken collarbone and abrasions, and Dir. Anderson escaped injury. Roth are suffering from shock.
The van was practically smashed to matchwood.
