MEMORANDA
To-morrow evening Mr M. J. Savage, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, will give a public address in the Opera House. His subject .will be ‘Labor 3 Plan for Prosperity and Security, and as Mr Savage is a fluent and forcetul speaker a large attendance is expected. The doors will open at 7 o clock. Un Wednesday he will speak at Tolaga Bay and Jokomaru Bay, while on Thursday be will give addresses at Nuhaka and Waitoa. On Thursday, August 1, an instalment of the general unemployment levy will become payable, and on the same date the second instalment of the emergency unemployment charge of lOd in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1935, will also fall due. Information regarding these taxes may be obtained at all money order offices. Provided they have been eligible for relief for at least one month prior to the date when each instalment of the levy became due, the following classes of workers are permitted to pay a levy of only Is per quarter: Men employed under No. 5 scheme and in receipt of sustenance, all camp workers except those who are paid at standard rates, and gold prospectors subsidised from the unemployment fund.
