DRIVER KILLED

'CAPSIZE OF 'LORRY TWO WOMEN INURED SIX OTHERS ESCAPE (Por Press Association.) Hastings, this day. A young man, Leslie Draper, was killed outright, and two young women passengers were injured, but -not seriously. at an early hour this morning, when a lorry driven -by .Draper capsized on a -bend rut Ihe main Napiertlastings road, near Whakatu. The lorry was extensively damaged. 'l'he injured women. Misses Ena Byford and Nora Oemckc, both of Napier, were the only two injured of eight passengers. At the time of the accident, the lorry was returning with a party from a dance at Waipukur-au. Just as it was approaching a bend in the road the vehicle apparently veered to rh left and swung off the concrete am then turned violently to the opposite side, finally turning over completely. Fortunately, the passengers wen thrown clear.

The superstructure of the lorry wm completely wrecked, and the righfront mudguard was lorn off. The injured women are progressing satisfactorily in hospital.
