TEACHERS’ SALARIES
NEW SCALE ADVOCATED EFFICIENCY AND SERVICE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, at- a largely attended special general meeting, discussed the present salary scales. Dissatisfaction with the present conditions was expressed, and it was urged that a new salary scluyne.' based upon efficiency and service, should he devised; that there should he a wide range between the lowest and the highest scale to provide adequately for professional efficiency; that positions in the service should be defined for men and women and the two scales of salaries proscribed; and that, there should bo a proportionate! relation between primary, intermediate, and secondary salaries.
