In a number of districts south of Auckland Micro is. considerable building activity. In King street, Pukckohe, for instance, three commercial building works are in progress. The early days when heart of kauri timber was plentiful in almost any size are recalled by the timber being removed at the present time from the oldest, part of tne law library at tho Auckland Supremo Court.. .The lining of tho wails behind the shelves has been found to consist of 12in. boards of heart kauri, about 14ft long. The uprights to cany tho shelves were mostly of 3m. kauu timber, llin. wide and about 14ft. long. After 60 years or more of_ service the timber is in perfect condition.
