ANNUAL GATHERING PARISHIONERS MEET The annual meeting oi parishioners of St. Andrew’s Church. Tolaga Bay, ■ was held in the Parish Hall last Friday, when over 60 people were present, ft was the best attended meeting since , the opening of the church. The vicar’s report, which only covered from February 10. the date of his institution, was one of progress, am! thankfulness to Almighty God for blessings bestowed. I lie statistics showed . a Yiig increase in church attendance, ; particularly til the Holy Communion, and at the country services. Work was , extended in the form of a weekly Sunday school, and church service monthly at Wharckaka. and a monthly church service at Auaura. '1 he report- concluded with thanks to the church wardens, and vestry, all of whom had signified their intention to present themselves for re-election, and to till who had worked so hard to help the vicar since his coming among them. IMPROVED FINANCES The churchwarden’s report and bal-ance-sheet were very satisfactory, the balance-sheets showing a marked improvement in the financial position since tho beginning of the year. The report thanked various people for gifts to the church and work so well done. Since tho coining of the Rev. F. 1. Parsons to the parish as vicar, new coconut matting had been given for the church aisle, new choir surplices made, the altar hangings cleaned anu renovated, and new hymn books for the use oi visitors provided. The report went on to say that although expenses had been high, yet tho bank overdraft was reduced, and the future looked much brighter, but all help was needed to further improve tho financial position, and to do this the systematic method of giving per the Duplex system, was strongly advised. OFFICERS ELECTED The election of officers for the. year resulted in the following being elected The vicar announced that Mr. H. L. Tempest had accepted appointment as his warden. Mr. A. Sharpe was elected unopposed as people’s warden. The 1 vestry will be Messrs. Shelton, Prebblc, C'raill. Spence, de Montalk, Biles, Appleton. Radiant. S. Thornton, and ; Dr. Weeks. Mr. Mace was elected as I auditor. 1 A most enthusiastic meeting termin--3 a ted by the vicar pronouncing the benediction. A social gathering then 3 look place and was most enjoyable. • Vocal items were rendered by Mrs. G. ’ W. King and tho vicar, and a one-act play presented by Mrs. Parsons, Misses M. and M. Holmes, and Messrs. Pape ’ and Scott. For the rest of the evening. 3 dancing was indulged in. Supper was i served by the Ladies’ Guild.
