HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER
ADMISSION AT HAMILTON EX?LAGNATION OFFERED (per Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. In (he Magistrate's Court at Hamilton to-day, John Henry Alaliood was lined o'n each of two -charges or failing lo report an accident and tailing to''stop. The defendant, pleaded guilty. According to the police, the defendant was driving a truck between Cambridge ami Hamilton when he knocked down Ernest, Tapp, who Wfts walking on the road, causing severe injuries, and driving on. His conduct was described as extremely callous. ■Counsel for the defence said that .Mahood had three young men ns companions, all of whom were under the influence of liquor. Alaliood himselt was sober, hut feared that if he stopped ho might, have been arrested on a charge of being intoxicated whim in charge of a vehicle. A further charge of negligent driving, thereby causing bodily harm to Ernest Tapp, was preferred .against Alaliood, and is proceeding.
