Sydney.—July 20; Arrived, 9.10 a.m., Wanganella, from Auckland. The wearing of crash helmets in all jumping events at the. Poverty Bay A. and P. Shows will be compulsory. The association’s general committee reached this decision at its meeting to-day. when Mr. J. C. Graham said that serious injuries had been reduced to a. very great extent among riders in hurdle events at 3-ace meetings by the use of these helmets. Members agreed that, all competitors in the jumps, for Their own protection, should wear the helmets, hut some were reluctant to compel their use. Eleven voted for the compulsory use of the helmets and eight against.
