BOARD OP GOVERNORS ADJOURNED MEETING The adjourned meeting of the. Gisborne High School Board of- Governors was belli last evening, when there were present;;,Messrs. 1,. T. Buruard, in the clilijy, 11. K. Bright, W. U. Sherratt, *>Siiri(lei'lani!, F. W. Nolan, I. Todd, and K. 11. Baker. At the instance of the chairman, a motion of condolence was passed to the cMatU.es of the late Mr. 1!. Robertson, whose death occurred at Wednesday’s meeting of the hoard. In referring to the sad event, the chairman said Mr. Robertson had passed away while attending to what had proved to bo his lust duty. Mr. . Robertson had been an •esteemed member of the board for many years. The members of the board stood fu silence in respect to the memory of •the departed member. * A letter was received from the Department of Education respecting tho conditions of exchange of post-primary “teachers.

Mr. ('. G. Fraser wrote asking for the .hoard's approval of liis application of exchange to Australia. The rector, Mr. J. Ilntton, in approving of the application. said he considered that the exchange of teachers was an excellent 'scheme, not only as far as the schools were concerned; but also as it widened

the experience of the teachers. He emphasised the tendency towards a parochial outlook owing In the fact that many of the teachers remained stationary. Mr. Todd remarked that one of the first tilings he had noticed on his arrival from England* was the parochial outlook ol many New Zealanders, lie approved of the exchange as it afforded the teaching staff an opportunity of Seeing conditions in other countries. The chairman agreed that the exchange would he for the good of the school, and the application was approved. Thu rector’s report and the statement of accounts, which were published in I Inirsdav night’s Herald, were adopted. Accounts amounting to £l6l 5s ml were passed for payment.
