RAILWAY CONNECTION

Sir, —in conversation with a traveller the other evening J was much impressed by his remarks regarding railroad connections to Gisborne, and as his opinion was impartial and in any mind good, J would put them to you. They are: Why was the northern cou_ ncction not carried through to Opotik! and Taneatua, and if there is no hope of a southern connection, why not endeavor to secure the northern one again. What is the reason that the northern one is not advocated by our railroad league or by Mr Lysnar?— Yours, etc., ' 11. HUNT.
