GISBORNE CLUB SEALED HANDICAP TOURNAMENT Great interest is being shown in the sealed handicap tournament which is to be played on Saturday next- by mem,mi - of the Gisborne Badraington Cln'o. It view of tlie large number of entries. i> has been decided to play oli' two separate tournaments in order to get them completed in the one day. Twenty-two pairs are entered, so each pair will play 10 games of up. This tournament is being run on ditferent lines from any previous one, tin winners’ points in all their games plus their sealed handicap being ttie deciding factor. Another novel feature in this tournament is the tact that- players select their own partners, but an A grade player must be partnered by a B grade player. By this method the strength of the pairs should no more even and the ban dicappers should find their task not quite so difficult. The three handicappers separately handicap all the players and then an average is struck. As none of the players will know their handicap till the last game is completed the interest in every game should he well maintained. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of both tournaments. Play will commence at 1.30 p.rn. and in view of the large number of games to he played the committee lias requested all players to be punctual in arriving and also in getting on the courts when their names are called. Tne games are set to 15 points, but should there lie any loss of time through absence, or delay between games, then the games will have to bo shortened so as to lie able to finish play in reasonable limit, is hoped this will not he necessary a 1 the longer game will be much more in teresting. It looks as though the Gisborne did players are in for a really good day play and no doubt some very el os games.
