A donation of £5 has been made to the Mayor's relief fund by the social committee of the staff of Me.-srs. .]. if. McKeuzii'. Limited, Gisborne.
A defended action arising out of li:a splitting and supply of posts from Hie W'aioeka Vallcv occupied (he attention of Mr K. L. Walton. S.M.. in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon, when Frank Anderson, of Matawai, busbinau (Mr K. A. Woodward), claimed from Charles Blomquist, Matawai, carrier, (Mr S. V. Ileaufcv). the sum of £l9 5s allegedly owing by defendant for 350 posts at a'price of C 5 10s per 100. The defendant counter-claimed for_ £l7 13s extra carting in respect of 2300 posts, at 15s per .100. and £2 for the eosl of a saw lost or retained by Anderson. After hearing the evidence, the magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for £l3 on bis claim, and also gave him judgment on the counter-claim. Costs totalling £lO 3s were allowed against the defendant.
