Wedding Bells
Scholium—Tcllioff On i u»: afternoon oi Thursday, July A, a, pretty wedding was solemnised at. tit. Mary s Church, Gisborne, the bride being Frances Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Toihon, King street, Mangapapa, and the bridegroom, Josepli vVe'nzl Scholium, of Auckland, son of Mr. and Airs. Scholium, Kaitaralahi. The marriage ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Father McMahon, wlnle Miss .\eill presided at the organ. The church was prettily decorated with white jonquils and camellias. The bride, who was given away by her iather, wore ,a lovely frock of heavy ivory lace fashioned with long tightiitting sleeves trimmed with gauging from the ftlbow to a point over eacli hand. The neckline was in cowl style in front and V shape at the back, and tiie long skirt was cut on the cross, forming a long train at the back, and was trimmed with a, cascade frill extending from a bow at the back of the waist to the hem in front of the skirt, tibe carried a charming bouquet of white roses and carnations.
The bridesmaid, Miss Clorine Johnson, wore a pretty frock of pale green shot taffeta modelled with a very full long skirt trimmed "with a frilled panel giving the effect of a train at the back, and two frills coining from a cluster of pink flowers at, the back of the waist and continuing to the knees in front, giving an apron effect. Green mittens, a green lace cap trimmed with pink flowers and a bouquet of pink roses completed her dainty ensemble. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Mr. C. Scholium, brother of the bridegroom. ■ The subsequent- reception was held at the Freesia Lounge, where a dance for the guests was held in the evening. The bride's mother, Mrs. Tolhoif, was wearing a becoming navy blue ensemble, the coat being trimmed with dark brown fur and worn with a hat to match. A frock and coat, of light, navy blue and a hat to tone were worn by the mother of the bridegroom. ' Mrs. M. Moore, sister of the bride, chose a wine-colored ensemble.
The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many beautiful -wedding presents, including several cheques, and also a 14-day chiming clock from the bride's former employer, Mr. J. Morrison. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome handbag. The bride and bridegroom left, later in the day on a motor tour south, the bride travelling in a smart frock of brown Marina cloth, a brown tailored coat and hat to match. They will take up their residence in Auckland.
