Poisonous Shrub
AS a- result of a Dargavilla resident losing two cows by poisoning recently the stock inspector, Mr A. Crnbb, sent n portion of the shrub • hat is thought to have been the cause of the trouble to the Government department concerned. A reply has been received stating that the shrub is cost mm aurantiaeu.n, a member oi ,he potato family, containing strong narcotic poison, which would be lata” stock eating the. leaves in air, -iitamity. The s-hrtib suspecio«i of causing the poisoning in the Dargavilio district was fully 12ft. in height, and it bore oiauge flowers. The loaves were eaten off as far as a cotv could reach. Within 24 hours both cows were dead, despile the efforts of a slock inspector to save one that appeared to have a hope of recovery. The leaf of the shrub is about 31. in. long by about lijin in width.
