PURSER’S SUICIDE
‘ ‘SLIGHTLY THEATRICAL’ ’ SYDNEY, July 15. The coroner inquired into the death of John Morris Breen, 23, assistant purser of the Aorangi, and returned a verdict of suicide. Brian Hurley, the second purser, gave evidence that Breen was “slightly theatrical." He had received a letter from a friend of Breen which he had handed to the police, and then to the coroner, who suppressed the contents. Hurley added that Breen had attended an undergrads’ ball the night before his death.
