SUCCESSFUL HUNT (Herald Correspondent.) The Mahia Hunt Club held a very successful meet on Saturday, when the properties of Mr. J. Powdrell and Mr. T. W. G. Tomblesou were hunted over. The day was beautiful, one of the very few fine days this month. The Mahia pack, under Mr. A. Devery, the master, led the field, with Mr. K. Stewart, deputy master, Messrs. D. Wilson, huntsman, ancl A. Hickling, whip There was a field of over 40 followers, besides a number in cars following by road. The morning brought forth some bright; snappy runs, but it was not until the afternoon that a kill was registered. An excellent day’s sport was enjoyed by all, no spills eventuating. Tho followers were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. J. Powdrell to morn ing. tea, and to afternoon tea by Mi and. Mrs. Tombleson. The master, Mr. Devery, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to their hosts and hostesses. A tired but happy company of riders wended their way homeward, having spent a most enjoyable day. The Nuhaka Public School and Mor'ere School played .a football match on Friday afternoon which resulted in a narrow win for Nuhaka, 12 to 9. Mr. J. Goldstone controlled the game. Afiss T. Mackenzie, Gisborne, is the guest of Mr. and Airs. J. Goldstone, Nuhaka.—Mr. G. D. Tod left for Napier on Monday to undergo an operation.— Air. .T. Sturm is now convalescent and will shortly resume duty.—Air. D. W. ATcAlpine, ot the Wairoa postal staff, is relieving at Nuhaka.
