The Tiroa is en route from Gisborne to Auckand and at the northern city is to toad to-morrow for Gisborne in place of the Margaret W. She is due here on Friday. The Koutunui arrives to-morrow irom Napier to load wool for transhipment to the Rangitiki. She will be joined at the Coast- port on Thursday by the Koau and the two vessels will assist in the lightering of the Home liner. The Karoro leaves Gisborne about Wednesday for Tokomaru Bay to take part in lightering operations. The aux. scow Ngahau is three days out en route from North Auckland with a shipment of posts for Gisborne. • The aux. -scow Altair arrived at 10.40 a m. to-day from Auckland after a trip of 48 hours. The vessel has made a quick return passage to this port. She left Gisborne* on Sunday, July 7, arid had a fair voyage to Auckland, blie cleared the northern port again, on Sunday last and met northerly winds for the greater part of the trip. When off East, Cape'last , night the vessel had a rough tossing in the tide rip and some of the movable gear on deck shifted. The Altair has a shipment ot benzine and will commence discharge to-morrow. The vessel is expected to depart on Thursday with empty drums for Auckland. The Nelson Harbor Board has let a contract.for the construction and equipment of a new pilot launch, the price being £520.
