TRIED IN ABSENCE ..c . - ~ - DUBLIN, June 4. l ln the circuit criminal court here today, ,1. J; O’Kelly, a well-known Republican leader ;‘ r and his two sons, were charged ' with resisting the execution of a decree for unpaid income-tax and obstructing the Civic Guards. The accused declined to plead, and Judge Davitt directed that a plea, of not guilty* be entered. ‘ -, When O’Kelly, sen.',' proceeded to interrupt the proceedings, Judge Davitt said he would have him -removed from the dock. O’Kelly, sen. : I defy you. When warders went to remove him, O’Kelly, sen., shouted, “Renegade Davitt.” ■ After further interruptions the three accused were removed, and Judge Davitt said lie was justified in going on with the trial in their absence. Evidence was then given. O’Kelly, sen., arid his son. John, were sentenced to six months’ imprisonment ill the second " and his son Mortimef. to four months’ imprison incut.
