The composer, BicHnilt Strauss, pan resigned the presidency of the Reich chambci ot culture and _ the chairman ship of the Corporation of German Composers. ... His resignation is officially attributed fo age and ill-health, but it is believed to ho due to the fact that a Jewish author, Stefa ni Zwcig. wrote a libretto for Strauss’ new opera., “The Silent Woman,” and that Strauss publicly praised him. __________
