ENOHTJE PARTY (i lerald Correspondent.) The last night of a -serifs of euchre and ping-pong evenings organised by tile Puha Hail Committee was held in die Puha Hall on Thursday, there being a good attendance. A CHEERY PARTY A very enjoyable evening was held at the residence of Mrs. W. T. Coates on Friday evening in honor of Air. Phil. Howard, whose marriage lo Aliss Joyce Spencer lakes place this week. Alemoers of the To Karaka Rangers and Te Karaka Boys’ Club were among the guests. The drawing and dining-rooms, where, the guests were entertained, were wanned with cheery log tires and were prettily decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies and jonquils. Entertaining competitions, which were entered into with -interest by the guests, were won Ijy Misses Lorna Fletcher and Edith Hodge, each receiving an attractive prize. After a delicious supper had been served by the hostess, assisted by her daughter, Aliss Nancy Coates, Aliss Al. A. Burgess, acting-captain of the To Karaka Ranger company, presented Air. Howard with a handsome eiderdown quilt in appreciation of his kindness in conveying the Puha Rangers to the weekly meetings. Tim Rev. ,). 1). Hodgson asked All-. Spencer then opened the numerous miscellaneous gills, displaying many useful articles for tier new home. Air. Howard thanked the Rangers, Boys’ Club and his many friends for their gifts, and also Airs. Coates for her kindness. Mr. AY. .Lidtroll delighted the party with several solos ajjd led community singing, the accompaniments being played by Aliss L. Runt. Gregory was held in the YVhatatutu Institute room on Saturday evening in lionor ot Miss Joyce Spencer and Air P. Howard, whose marriage takes place this week. Ihe room was prettily decorated with autumn tinted foliage and ilowers and a bright log lire added to the comfort of the guests, (lames and dancing were much enjoyed and a sumptuous supper was served by the hostesses. Aliss Spencer then opened her many parcels which contained a varied collodion of pantry gills. Air Howard is a happy speech, thanked all present for their kindness and generosity. Aliss 15.
