TO-DAY’S FIXTURES FINE SCHOOL WIN RESULTS FROM THE OVAL Bright- sunshine and good ground conditions favored football players and spectators to-day when the Poverty' Bay Rugby Union’s competitions were continued on the Oval and High School grounds. A feature of the early games was the defeat of Celtic by High School, the students showing really fine condition and combining well against formidable opposition. In this match three tries were scored for High School and only one for Celtic, but- at a late stage in the game Celtic looked like, winners with a lead of a single point and were only displaced by an exceptionally good try on the part of the students. Early scores from the Oval were as under : JUNIORS Y.M.P. defaulted to H.S.O.H. High School 19 heat- Celtic 15. THIRD GRADE High School 30 beat, H. 5.0.8. 3. SENIORS At 3.45 p.m. the scores ;in the senior matches were as follow: —• H. 5.0.8. 8 v. Old Boys 5. Celtic IT v. Marisfc nil.

FAST JUNIOR GAME

HIGH SCHOOL V. CELTIC One of the most exciting matches seen on the. Oval this season was the junior game, played "early this afternoon by Celtic and High School. Celtic, with a. margin of weight, in the forwards and sound combination amongst, tho backs, took the honors of the first half, but later tho students came to light- with a great, burst and assumed the lead with a quarter of tho game -still to run. At that stage they held a. lead of seven points, but. Celtic again took command for a while, a penalty goal and a converted try putting them ahead by a margin of one point. Time was getting very short when a magnificent passing rush launched from near the’ midfield line was carried to success by the High School backs, Kcrmodo finishing off the movement with a try scored behind tho posts. The conversion of this try brought High School out the winners by 19 points to 15, the last minute of the match being further enlivened,.by a splendid forward effort on the part of Celtic, the ball passing into touch in goal and thus eluding the attackers. The scorers for the winners were Kcrmode, two tries, Robinson, one try, Gardner, three conversions, Smiler, a field goal. For Celtic the scorers were Green, one try, Haisman, one conversion) Stevens and Milligan penalty goals,'and ft. Turnbull, aS field goal. Mr. F C. Bennett was the referee.
