INDIANS WIN AGAIN AUCKLAND LOSE BY 9 TO 3 DHYAN CHAND BRILLIANT (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The touring Indian hockey team had little difficulty on Saturday in defeating Auckland by'nine goals to three. Auckland dominated the early stages. Two of the home side’s goals were scored soon after the commencement. India rallied well, however, and, by iiv forwards making the moot, of the opp-v----tunities, soon established a load. In the second half, while defending in the goal-mouth, Mnkersee was struck on the head anti -,vns groggy for the rest of the game. E. Watts -sportingly mad no effort is a penalty bully which was awarded against him. The whole Auckland team played solidly, the forward line, which included three Dominion representatives, being particularly strong. Scorers for India were Dhyan Chand (4), R-up Singh (3), Fernandez and Wells 1 each. Goals wero scored for Auckland by E. Watts (2), and C. Watts. THE THIRD TEST N.Z. MEN FOR TRAINING T. MATCHES IN GISBORNE SATURDAY'S RESULTS FAST MEN’S GAME Hockey at the Childers road reserve on Saturday produced some fast play, particularly in the men’s game between Calodonian and Y.M.O.A. A, won by tho former by three goals to one. Results were:— —Women — To Karaka 4 beat Old Girls 0. Kia Toa 3 beat Takitimu 0. Y.M.P. 2 beat Waituhi 1. —Senior Men— Caledonian 3 beat Y.M.O.A. A 1. Tairit-imu 6 beat Waituhi. 2, Foresters A 8 beat Foresters B 1 Y.M.P. won from Takitimu B by default. —Schoolboys— High School B 11, Rovers 5High School A 3, Manga papa B 2. NOTES OX THE GAMES The game between Caledonian and Y.M.O.A. A was fast and even, and Hie influence of the visit from the India team was seen more in tins mutch than in any other in Gisborne this season, short passing and the use of the flick stroke were both much in evidence, but obstruction was all tuo frequent. Caledonian got- ahead again immediately, the ball being rushed from the bully to' the Y.M.O.A. circle, where T. Tuvbitt passed to Faulkner, who shot successfully. Faulkner scored Caledonian's third goal, following in a shot from T. Tnrbitt, snicking the ball in when stop ped by the goalkeeper, who was unable to clear quickly enough. The gam? ended 3-1. For Takitimu, W. Smiler and B. Baker scored two goals apiece, C. and K Pero scoring one each against Waituhi, both of whose goals were secured uv T. Tupara, Jones was in good form for Foresters A, and scored four goals, three of them being the result of tricky circle work. Scholium, Swan, Moore and Murphy scored tho others. For Foresters B, the only goal was scored by Parkin. 'lq the women’s section, Y.M.P. played % very even game with "Waituhi. Miss L. Smith scored both goals for Y.M.P., Mrs. Edwards scoring for Waituhi. To Karaka was not seriously troubled bv the new Old Girls team, which, however, showed much improvement on their first outing. Miss B. Robinson, full back, and Miss J. Wells, centre forwards, were the mainstays of the Old Givis team. Three of the Te Karaka goals ■ were secured _by Mrs. Wa.tene in the first half, Miss Kewa scoring in the second spell. For Kia Toa, who defeated Takitimu by three goals to nil, the goals were divided among Mrs. Sangwell and Misses Llovd and Gould.
