| LADIES' TOURING TEAM ' FAREWELL IN WELLINGTON ( ivi Prims Association. I WELLINGTON, last night. • A civic farewell was given members j of the New Zealand ladies’ hockey team, ! which left, by the Marama for rtydney : to-day. i Cr. M. F. Luckie, on behalf of the ; Mayor, congratulated the members of the team on their selection, and extended them good wishes for their tour of Australia, remarking that this was the first overseas trip to be made by a ladies’ hockey team. Mrs P.oulton, manageress of the team, expressed the hopo that the team would uphold the high tradition of New Zealand teams in other fields of sports. Mrs Gilfedder, on behalf of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association, 1 said she thought the selectors had { chosen the team well, and the team I would uphold New Zealand's reputation I just as the men had done. As this j was the first overseas trip made by a New Zealand women’s hockey team, it Was probable that the players would encounter different types of piny from that in New Zealand, a ltd hockey would .herefore benefit greatly.
