NEW ZEALAND YOUTHS MEMBERS OF BYRD’S CREW NEW YORK, July 11. Two New Zealand youths, Cecil Melrose, of Christchurch, and Francis Smoothy, of Milton, who joined the Byrd expedition to see the world, face deportation, to .their - homeland," unless the expedition’s management and others interested ill their case manage to secure them a passage. For a time they enjoyed sightseeing in New York, but now their pay money is exhausted, and • they are anxious to re turn* home. The Brooklyn Young Men’s Chambet of Commerce and the British Consulate are attempting to make arrangtements to have them work their way home to prevent'the stigma of deportation, . which would involve staying some time on lCllis Island. Furthermore it would prevent' them' from' ’ever returning to ! America.
