MURDER OF GIRL
ARREST IN NEW YORK .NEW YORK, July 3. A man, aged 27, for whom the police had been searching for months in connection with the' murder of a child in Detroit, was arrested in A ork to-day for annoying children in Central Park" An examination of his fingerprints revealed that lie was Merton Waro Goodrich, who occasionally worked as a drummer in a jazz band. He had been confined in an insansa asylum, but for sonic reason ho was released. When accused of the crime, Goodrich admitted having taken Lillian Gallagher. aged 10, to his home in Detroit. He said he had beaten her to death with a dub .when she had resisted ms immoral advances. He had then placed hoc bodv in a trunk.
