Replying to a toast at a farewell luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Kafcstfji Debuclii, who is to begin a goodwill mission to Australia and New Zealand shortly, said: “I carry no samples, and no draft treaty. 1 carry solely the Japanese people’s most friendly greeting to the peoples of those great Dominions. “The peace of east Asia and the Pacific is guarded by Japan, America, nml the British Empire, which Australia and New Zealand represent. These three must co-operate in developing the great, resources of the region.’’ He pointed out that in 1934 Japa-nese-European trado was exceeded by Japanese trade with the south Pacific lands, among .which the most prominent was Australia, with 260,000,000 yen. Trade with New Zealand was increasing steadily. He added that Japan, Australia, and New Zealand were complementary, economically and politically. The Emperor gave a farewell audience to Mr. Debuclii, His Majesty graciously expressed appreciation of the important mission to tho distant Dominions. Mr. Debuclii is attending Sir. Hirota’s banquet to-night, and the Premier’s luncheon to-morrow, at which the entire Cabinet will be present.
