Tho m.v. Pukeko sailed at 1.10 p.m. to-day for Napier. The s.s: Knrtigi, which arrived yesterday afternoon from Auckland, berthed at 12.30 p.m. to-day. Deep appreciation of the assistance given to the Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association by farmers on the East Coast and in the inland areas of Wao-renga-o-kuri, Tiniroto, Jlangaroa and Tahunga, through the medium of cattle drives for the benefit of needy "Diggers,” was expressed at a meeting of the association's executive last- evening. The fact that all the cattle* handed over io the association had been driven to Gisborne without cost was noted with particular interest, and the secretary was instructed to' convey the thanks of the executive to the- branches which had laken part in organising the drives.
