CANBERRA WAR MUSEUM
FURTHER EXPENDITURE TOTAL COST £87,000 Additional accommodation which will be provided in the War Museum section of the Australian National "War Memorial building, in Canberra, will raise the cost of the building from about £82,000, as was originally anticipated, to about £87,000. The actual cost of the additional work will be about £BOOO, and it has been found possible to effect savings amounting to about £3OOO in the cost of the building, as originally planned. As the result of this newly-authorised expenditure, the building will provide permanent • accommodation for many exhibits which would otherwise have had to be housed in temporary structures pending the construction of the complete War Memorial building.
The War Museum section will not be ready for occupation until about October. Although storage space for some of the exhibits may be available in part of the new building before the structure is completed, it is probable that the museum will not bo open to the public in Canberra until next vonr.
