ANNUAL MEETING The nineteenth annual meeting of the parishioners of the Church of the liesurrectipn, Te Hapara, was held iu the Sunday school hall, Cook street, last night. Tlte gathering was presided over by Canon A. F. Hall and thero was a good attendance, despite the cold weather, those present including repre- ' aentatives from Holy Trinity vestry. Jlie secretary, Mr G. K. Pasley, submitted the reports and balance sheet for the church, the children’s church and kindergarten and the Ladies’ timid. The report on church activities compiled by Mr“Pasley on behalf of the commit tee was as follows : ■'The year just closed has been a quiet one, as no special activities of any Kind were undertaken by the committee, the passing on of Mrs A. J. Craig and Alias F. Al. Pasley Inis depleted the ranks of-the willing workers, but others have volunteered to Jill the gaps. The past, •year has been rather a sad one lor It llaha.ru people, as there lias been at lot of sickness, and we also miss. Mrs Mathieso'n, Messrs .1. E. Newton, A. Hepburn, and J. Short. “The -passing of Canon Ptwjke on December 2, 1134, severed a link with the dedication of our church, llhe ques tion of some suitable memorial is exer cising the minds of the congregation at present. In February a social was held m the Parish Hall to farewell the. Rev. F. I. Parsons, and Airs Parsons in which all joined, and we have welcomed to our midst the Revs. It. C. Aires and T, A. : Moresby. “Thanks are due to tile Ladies’ Guild for donating £ls towards repayment »c loan oil the Sunday School, ana :o Mr A. H. Wallis for generously g off £35, thereby reducing the, principal to £l7O. We wish to thank the ladies who decorated the church for th<* festivals, and especially Mrs Garfcshoro for her thoughtfulness in securing sheaves of oats, as in the past, and small loaves of oread for the altar for the thanksgiving. We also thank the .ladies who attend to the flowers on the altar, the churchwardens, the layreaders, Mr J. H. Bull, our esteemed organist, and Miss P. Hopps, for undertaking the care of the altar linen. Mr Wright deserves special ■ mention for having cut back the towering hedge. Thero were a number of weddings and baptisms in the church during the year. “It has been proposed by the vestry to centralise all suburban offertories, and pay all accounts. This aspect needs to be carefully considered from the point of view of whether the time is ripe for the change.” CHILDREN'S CHURCH AND LADIES’ GUILD In the course of his report on the formation of a children’s church at Te Hapara the Rev R. C. Aires stated: “I led absolutely convinced that we have started at Te Hapara on the right; lines apd believe, with God’s help, that! our work will bear fruit and bring into the church a new generation of well 1 trained churchmen and church women.” 1 The following paragraphs .were included in the annual report of the Je Hapara Anglican Ladies’ Guild: —“The annua! meeting of the guild was held on March 1, the Rev. F. I. Parsons being in the' chair. The following officers were elected: President, Airs C. G. Crone; vice-presidents, Airs Newton and Aliss Price; secretary and treasurer, Mrs E. Hughes. The l-eport of the guild for the previous year was fairly satisfactory, various functions having been held -with a certain amount of success financially, hut members feel that more outside support would be a great help.” The balance sheet showed that the finances of the different branches of the church were in a healthy state, a credit balance being recorded in each case. The ■officials for the ensuing year were elected as follow.—Church wardens, Messrs Wright and Mace; committee, with power to add, Afesdames E. Newton, J. Short, and J. Talbot, Aliases J. Corbett, P. Hopps, and K. Pasley; Alessrs W. H. Wright, J. Talbot and F. J. Mace; secretary and treasurer, and representative on llolv Trinity Church vestry, Air G. K. Pasley. The opportunity was taken by different church members to thank Aliss Alfreda Blackburn for her services to the church and to wish lier success in licr career. Miss Blackburn leaves shortly for Wanganui to enter the nursprofession. The proposal to centralise, all finance and liabilities in Holy Trinity Church vestry was discussed at length, and on being put to the vote was carried by a small margin. At the conclusion of the annual meeting a most successful social function was held, the programme opening with, a pianoforte solo My Aliss Alfreda Blackburn. A vocal solo was presented by Canon Hall, the. accompaniment being played by Air C. I). King, while a recitation was given by Aliss Eirene Halbert. A dainty supper served by the ladies brought to a conclusion a hgppy evening.
