Mr. Justice Smith, with his associate, Mr. R. F. A. Gray, arrived in Gisborne from Napier last evening to preside over the quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court, which opened this morning.
Mr. A. C. McMillan, security clerk in the Gisborne branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of transfer to the main Auckland branch of the hank, and will leave Gisborne on March 6. Mr. McMillan has been a member of the Gisborne branch for 10 years, and his departure from the district will’be keenly regretted by a wide circle of friends.
Mi - . R. SI. Bell, tlie well-known English club cricket veteran, and a member of the M.C'.C., who has been on a visit to New Zealand, is returning to England bv the Rernuera, which left Wellington on Saturday. A few days after his arrival in New Zealand some months ago Mr. Bell had a serious illness. lie has now fully recovered. He hopes to be able to return to New Zealand in the near future.
