While in many districts there is a serious shortage of water, the rivers of Tarannld, although below the normal summer, level, are still carrying a plentiful supply of water. A number of the coastal districts in Taranaki are now feeling the serious effects of the prolonged dry spell, but further inland toward Mount Egrnont and the adjacent ranges the fields are still very green.
