DUCK SHOOTING SEASON SAD START IN VICTORIA (Received Feb. 16, 2 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 16. Tragedy marked the opening of the duckslioo'ting season in Victoria. One man was drowned and two men were wounded. Jack White was drowned in a. lagoon near Wangaratta. He shot a. duck and then rode bareback on a horse into the lagoon. When the horse started to swim White jumped off after the duck and became entangled in tile weeds. Ronald Ward, who was seriously wounded, was in the line of fire of bis companions. Ho received pellets in the head, arms, and chest. Vincent Girino, who was shooting ducks from a boat at Green Lake, was shot in the back and neck. Later a farmer of Green Lake, who reported tho occurrence to the police, was arrested and charged with maliciously wounding.
