The principal increases in trade last month, compared with January last year were:—-In imports: Rubber, £904,000 : nonfeiTons metals and manufactures, £455,000. In exports: Coal, £303,000; iron and steel and manufactures_thereol, £405,000; nonferrous metals, £310,000; machinery, £588,000: cotton yarns and maiiui’ael ures, £342,000; .woollen and worsted. £214.000; chemicals and drugs, £353,000. Decreases were: —-In imports: Other foods, £1,653,000; wool, £2.653,000: hides and skins, £345.000: oils, tats and resin, £295,000.
