The committee of the Alotu 'Sports ('lull met on Monday evening, Air. T. Jackson presiding .over a small attendance, there being also present Alcssrs. R. S. Fisher. J. Donaldson, W. Donaldson, and J. AtcZenz.io, secretary. The chief matter for diseusison was the advisability of holding the usual meeting' on Easter Saturday. Owing to counter-attractions .the sports held on that date during the past three years have not been a financial success. Alo decision was reached. It being decided. to leave the finalising of the question for the annual general meeting, to he held at. the end of the week. At a special meeting of the Alotu School Committee the appointment of Aliss I, Al, Dare as assistant teacher was confirmed. Aliss Dare will commence her duties on March ]. Aliss A. Bcrridge is at; present- acting ns assistant..
Mrs W. Fisher returned' to Gisborne on Wednesday utter spending some weeks with her daughter, Mrs T. Tycrman.—Mrs T. MeCreedy, Tolaga Hay, is the guest of her sister, .Mrs McGuincss, Motnhora.—Advice has been received that Mrs L. C. Arthur underwent a serious operation in Auckland on AVcdnesday morning, and is as well as can be expected.
