FASHION REVIVAL

THE BELL SKIRT LONDON, Feb. .1.

Fashions of the “naughty ’nineties” are being revived, according to Parisian dress shows which exhibited spring novelties, among which was an attractive outfit of black satin witli a bellskirt, close-fitting jacket, leg-o’-mutton sleeves, and a pork-pie hat, reminiscent of the clothes of Victoria’s jubilee.

Youthful-looking daytime frocks were generally mid-calf in length. A feature, of the tailored suits is the figure-defining jackets, with fluted gangues, and Dolly Vardcn bonnets also introduced. 'Combined fringes and ringlets give a demure, unsophisticated air at variance with latest saucepan-lid hats. Molyncux designs give prominence to the “silhouette dress” which tiio Evening News says will enable women to chop off a few years of their age at least. On first appearance they are distinctly schoolgirlish, with close-fitting sheaths of satin and flimsy transparent tulle skirts, resembling lampshades. Trains are disappearing, although the “Merry Widow” gown with the front cut away to show the ankles has a short one. The latest, evening coats 'consist of taffeta lined with ruffled fabric composed of ISO ostrich plume tips. •Swagger evening jackets of white pique gave a, most distinctive appeara nee. New trinkets include golden-arrow ear-rings actually piercing the ears.
