VALUE OF PRODUCTS LOWEST POINT IN JULY, .1934 Observations made by the League of Nations Statistical Bureau indicate that in July, 1934, the value of world trade calculated in gold dollars reached the lowest point since 1929. In August there was a slight improvement of. a seasonal character, but the value of imports is still 8 per cent., and that of exports 6 per cent, lower than, in August, 1933.
Stocks of gold in the hands of central hanks or Governments to cover their note issue hardly varied between June and September, 1934, in most countries. The total reserves in more than 50 countries increased bv 210,000.000 former gold dollars. The increase is most marked in France, 107,000,000; U.S.A., 72.0C0.G00; Switzerland, 33,000.000; and the Netherlands, 9,000,000. There is a diminution in Italy of 13.000,000, and in South Africa of 11.000,000.
