FEMALE BODY FOUND

POLICE INVESTIGATING HAWKE’S BAY MYSTERY (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, last, night. The discovery of a very much decomposed fetnaie body was made this morning in a creek near the junction of Onepu and -Raukaia roads, about 20 miles south of Hastings. At present it is impossible to say whether there are grounds for suspicious of foul play. The police state that none of the stations in this district have any reports that a woman is missing. Medical examination has definitely established that the woman is white, not a Maori as was at first believed.

It is* likely that the body had been in the water for some two or three weeks

The body was clothed in a red colored dress of light material, "brown silk stockings., two linen petticoats, and black shoes with a single, cross strap. The dead woman was probably unmarried. She. is sft. 4in., in height and of stocky build. The police appear more or less satisfied that she was a stranger to this district, and most certainly did not belong to the neighborhood in which her body was found. She was evidently about 30 years of age. Th© district in which the discovery was made is remote from all main and even secondary traffic- roads.
