Plans are being discussed for the erection of an isolation block at Napier Hospital costing £II,OOO. Although gold nuggets weighing from 8 to 10 ounces are occasionally picked iqj on the fields of other countries, a piece weighing 3oz. 4dwt., found by the manager of the Nevis sluicing claim the other day, is nowadays sufficiently largo on the Central Otago fields to excite the interest, of gold seekers, gold speculators. and those who dream of finding a highly payable mining claim. The Nevis nugget is worth £26 Bs. Pieces of its size are a. rare find oil the New Zealand fields of to-day. Dunedin gold dealers and jewpllers cannot recall handling nuggets weighing more than 7dwt. in recent years.
