FRANCO-ITALIAN PACT
INTEREST IN BRITAIN
SIR J. SIMON’S REPORT
(British Official Wireless.) Roc. 2 p.m. RUGBY, Jan. 2. Negotiations' between France anil Italy for sponsoring a multilateral pact guaranteeing the integrity of Austria have been actively coni inning: News of M. Laval’s projected visit to Rome has'been received in London with special satisfaction, as it is taken as indicating the probability of a successful outcome of the FTaneo-ltalian negotiations, in which the British Governmenl has been talcing an active interest.
The European questions under discussion between Paris and Rome were Hie subject of conversation between Sir John Simon and the French Premier and Foreign Minister during Kir John Simon’s brief stay in Paris on the way from London to the Riviera, where he is at present on holiday. The British Foreign Secretary has since kept in close touch with the French and Italian Governments.
