MORE OPEN PLAY
INTEREST IN ALL BLACKS
Rugby football is becoming increasingly popular in England, with a noticeable improvement in the standard of play, according to Dr. P. F. MoEvcdy, of Wellington, president of the Now Zealand Rugby Union, who returned by the Akaroa after a holiday visit to England.
“ English players appear to have adopted a more open game," Dr. MeEvedv said, “and there is more (back [ilny in club matches than there used to be. in England at all interested in Rugby is looking forward Keenly to the All Blacks’ tour during the next English winter, and our players are assured of a magnificent reception.’’
Dr. McEvedy said he had discussed cortnin details concerning the tour with members of the English Rugby Union, and he would report on these matters to the New Zealand body.
