NOVEL PROPOSAL SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTE
LONDON, Jan. 2. The Times’ Dublin correspondent says the Irish Times gives prominence to an article believed to bp written by a prominent Republican, offering a novel solution of the Irish problem, based on Mr, De Valera’s reference to the British commonwealth as a smaller League of Nations.
Ho proposes tho formation of an Anglo-Celtic commonwealth which might include America and Ireland, forming a bridge between tho Empire and the United States, where a strong Irish minority prevented an Anglo-American understanding. He suggests that the Free State and Ulster should federate, each retaining its sovereign rights, and recognising the King, hut the Free State would bo republic in everything but in name.
