ROADS AT WHAKATANE
EXC EL LENT CONDIT lON
The, excellent condition of the surface of the roads in the Wlmkatano County lias attracted widespread attention, and inquiries in regard to the method of upkeep have been received from places as far distant its Western Australia. The success in this respect is due to the development, by die engineer, Mr. 0. H. Brobner, and bis mechanical .-staff, 0f,.-an improved road planer, the machine having been constructed by the staff. The engineer of 'the Waikato County Council recently purchased one of the machines and the engineer of the Hawke’s Bay County Council visited Whnkatane recently for thq express purpose of seeing-aignachine in operation. r
