The m.v. Koau arrives at Gisborne to-morrow morning from Napier, and after loading wool will sail in the afternoon for Napier.
The result of the cricket match between Taranaki and Manawatn places Poverty Bay in the position of challenging Manawntu for the Hawke Cup. Taranaki, were the holders of fclie trophy at the close cf the competition last season, and their match with Maimwatu was the first of the Hawke Cup .series for this season. Poverty Bay’s challenge will be decided at Palmerston North on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week, and the 12 players front whom the side will be selected on the ground will leave Gisborne at 1 p.m. to-morrow. The travellers will be under the management of Mr. H. F. Forster, with Mr. G. N.. Lockett as captain.
