“TAKE CRICKET TOO SERIOUSLY”

“Australian crowds have a great sense of humor, but one has to have some humor to appreciate their barracking sometimes,” said Miss Betty Archdale, captain of the English women s cricket team, on her arrival in Brisbane tonight- “ The trouble with men is that, they take their cricket 100 seriously, ’ she proceeded. “Terrible controversies that turn the rest of the cricket world upside down leave women cricketers /unperturbed. Sportswomen and sportsmen must have a. 'sense of humor it they arc to get the best out of games. All big controversies would seem very small and very easily .suttled if contestants and supporters seo the funny side of it.” Miss Archdale a/dded that Australian crowds had been very fair, and she found them “jolly good fun.” All Australia seemed to be doing its best to make tho team’s tour happy.
